The NCBA is proud to present the BJHS & BCHS bands in BBQ, Bids & Bands held June 3rd at the Brooks Evangelical Free Church. Doors open at 4:00 pm. Tickets are $10 each, children 2 & under are free. This includes hamburger, side dish, dessert and drink along with great entertainment! There will be a 50/50 draw & silent auction. Tickets can be purchased at BJHS, BCHS OR Home Hardware Downtown.All proceeds go toward student band travel.

The Rolling Hills Ag Society is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, June 3rd at the Rolling Hills Hall with doors opening at 5:00 pm. Up for auction will be a signed Ovechkin jersey, plus signed Jagr Jersey, signed Bobby orr jersey,and a Sutter Hockey Stick. Plus there will be tools, a half beef, home made bench, wall art, custom spraying, custom trucking, load of gravel, pet supplies, sunglasses, home made quilt, yoga items, propane bottle, gift cards, case of honey, baking and the list goes on. Those attending are encouraged to pre buy your ticket at the Rolling Hills Golf Course or Rolling Hills Agency.

The 2017 MS Walk in Brooks is set for Sunday, May 28 starting at the Centennial Regional Arena with registration at 9:30. The walk starts at 10 am. You can register online at mswalks.ca. The 2016 Brooks MS

 

Walk was supported by 45 Walkers and 15 volunteers raising just under $20,000.00. This year we are aiming for $19,000.00 and believe that the City of Brooks will rally and support the 2017 MS Walk.

The Brooks Bombers begin their second season starting at home on Thursday, June 1st playing host to the Lethbridge Bulls. Game time in Brooks is 7:05 pm.

During EMS Week, the public is invited to an open house at the EMS station on Thursday, June 1st from 11 am to 2 pm. There will be hot dogs, cake, refreshments and tours. The EMS Station is located at 515 1st Avenue East.

The Brooks Toy Library is holding Fundraiser in the Freson Bros Parking lot on Saturday, June 17th from 10 am to 2 pm. Harwood Ford will be there and for every car a person test drives, Harwood will donate $20 to the Toy Library. There will also be a bouncy castle, face painting, hot dogs and smokies, bake sale and jail and bail.

Doug and Brandon Oberhamer, who grew up in the Brooks area and graduated from the Brooks Composite, have a CD  out, called “Together again.”  Most of it are the own composition. The CD of Smooth Jazz  is now available at Freson Brothers and Downtown Home Hardware.

The Cassils Community Centre features Canadian Fiddle Champion Scott Woods and his band, the Twin Fiddle Express on Wednesday, June 7th, 7:00 pm at the Cassils Community Centre. Tickets available at Chinook Financial.

A Prostate Cancer Support Group has started in Brooks, they meet every third Saturday of the month at 10:00 am at St. Alban's Anglican Church, lower level.

The Knights of Columbus Bingo is held every Thursday night, doors open at 6:30, bingo starts at 7:30 pm at  Saint Mary's Parish Hall.  Come for the fun and friendship, and a chance to play bingo.

 The Girl Guides of Brooks are selling cookies, they have the vanilla and chocolate as well as the mint chocolate, call Stephanie on the Cookie Hotline at 403-427-1234 to place your order.  Money raised from the sales goes to the girls programs.

 It's time to get your children involved in an activity the encourages them to become active, responsible members of their communitues, where they do rewarding activities adn have fun.  The Brooks Air Cadets is for young people aged 12 to 18 years where they can reap the personal benefits of increased self confidence, learn how to take initiative and how to make decisions.  There are no registration fees, dues or costs for the uniforms or for the basic Cadet Program.  Brooks Air Cadets meet every Tuesday night starting at 6:30 pm at the Kin Building at the old rodeo grounds.
